The Southampton High School Teacher of the Month for November 2022 is Jessica Grant-Banks.

An SHS news release stated that Grant-Banks is a native of Franklin. She is a graduate of Norfolk State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a secondary endorsement in education.

She teaches English and language arts for Southampton County Public Schools.

She is a site coordinator for Ladies of Distinction and the senior class sponsor. She offers English tutorials and remediation to students resulting in passing end-of-course English SOLs.

She is enrolled in graduate school at Virginia Union University in Richmond where she is obtaining a Master of Divinity degree.

Grant-Banks was just elected to the Ward 6 seat on the Franklin City Council, and she also previously served as a Wards 5 and 6 representative on the Franklin City School Board.
