A portion of Route 626 (Womble Mill Road) near Barrett Drive in Southampton County has reopened to traffic following the successful completion of maintenance work on a culvert under the roadway at Black Creek, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

A Wednesday, Jan. 18, VDOT news release stated that the work, which included applying a spray liner to extend the lifespan of the culvert, was completed ahead of schedule. The road initially closed to traffic in early January.
