LACROSSE – John E. King, 72, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family. He was the retired owner operator of Kings Gun Shop in South Hill, Virginia and a supervisor for IES, a telecommunication company that does contract work for Microsoft. John enjoyed drag racing.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nora J. King of LaCrosse, his four children, Jodi Elaine King of South Hill, John E. King (Erika) of Timberlake, North Carolina, Joanna K. Fritts (Nathan) of Chace City and Bruce E. King II (Angela) of LaCrosse; his three sisters, Patsy A. King of Carrsville, Jackie K. Jones (Donnie) of Smithfield and Vanessa K. Jones of Carrsville; his brother, Cecil G. King of Carrsville. He leaves behind 11 loving grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his parents, Edward G. King and Pattie A. King; sister Jewel K. Faison and two nephews, Nathan Jones and “Sonny” Faison.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 1 at Crowder-Hite and Crews Funeral Home and Crematory at 504 N. Mecklenburg Avenue, South Hill, Virginia. Visitation will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Service to follow at 3 p.m. with interment to follow in LaCross Cemetery with full American Legion Post 79 military honors.
