A vehicle crash on Carrsville Highway that occurred Thursday morning, April 6, near the Franklin Lumber main office has led to a power outage just outside the city limits of Franklin.
Franklin City Manager Amanda C. Jarratt explained that at about 6 a.m., a vehicle struck a junction pole, leading to a loss of power in the area of M & M Milling, Camptown, Franklin Municipal Airport, Beaverbrook Manor Mobile Home Park and Lees Mill Road.
Jarratt estimated that power should be back up in that part of Isle of Wight County by 5 p.m.
She noted that the Virginia Department of Transportation has closed the road.
This has led to motorists being directed back onto the interstate to seek another entryway into Franklin.
Jarratt said that even after power is restored, the road will likely remain closed for a period of time as work continues to repair the damaged junction pole.
