Children’s Book Week, which ran from May 1-7, proved to be a busy and enjoyable time for the Blackwater Regional Library, including its Windsor branch.
“We had so much fun during Children’s Book Week last week,” BRL Windsor Branch Senior Library Assistant Melody L. Ranck stated Wednesday, May 10.
The next day, she noted that Children’s Book Week is a special week for celebrating children’s books and encouraging early literacy in the community. The 2023 Children’s Book Week has two dedicated weeks of celebration — May 1-7 and Nov. 6-12.
“Systemwide, we saw 2,148 checkouts of youth materials throughout Blackwater Regional Library during the week of May 1-7,” she said.
She noted that to celebrate the fun experienced during the week, the Windsor Library held a special Storytime event with Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office K-9 officers on Friday, May 5.
