The youthful Franklin High School varsity boys tennis team gave a good effort in the Region 2B doubles tournament on Wednesday, May 31, but came up short against the No. 1 seed.
The eight-team tournament was played at the W.O. Riley Park tennis courts in Woodstock. The No. 8 Broncos were pitted against No. 1 Stuart Draft High School in the best-two-out-of-three matches.
Franklin had to make major changes with its lineup after recently losing No. 1 player Jusdes Turner to a leg injury that sidelined him from playing for the remainder of the season. This resulted in Coach Frank Davis having to move two first-year players — No. 4 Kamarre Hicks and No. 6 Jabari Warren — to No. 1 doubles.
The Broncos doubles team played its best, but it went down swinging with a score of 2-0.
