Franklin City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Carlton Carter announced May 30 that Enrichment Fridays are to be concluded for the remainder of the 2022-23 school year.
A May 30 FCPS news release noted that this decision was shared during a meeting with principals, administrators and staff.
The Enrichment Day Program was launched this past winter, and its purpose has been, in Carter’s words, “to address learning loss and close the achievement gap.”
Tutoring with students in grades 1-12 was done on Fridays when schools were closed for wellness days.
One reason for the superintendent’s decision to end the Enrichment Days for the rest of the present school year is the approaching conclusion of funding sources.
Title I has supported the price for faculty tutoring. ESSER III funding, which has covered the
costs for support staff, is expected to end later this school year. ESSER stands for Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief fund.
Enrichment Fridays will resume in September for the 2023-24 school year.
