Arrest made in connection with July 23 Franklin shooting

The Franklin Police Department arrested a young Franklin resident Friday, July 28, in connection with a shooting that reportedly took place in the city Sunday, July 23.
An FPD news release stated that on July 23 at around 5:07 p.m., FPD officers were dispatched to Berkley Court Apartments for a report of shots fired. Police said that upon the officers’ arrival, it was learned that a vehicle had been damaged by gunfire in the 600 block of Cameron Street. The release added that while officers were investigating, a report of a gunshot victim in the 600 block of Pace Street was received.
Officers responded to the victim’s location and made contact with a 19-year-old Franklin resident who had sustained a gunshot wound, police said, adding that the victim was initially treated at Bon Secours – Southampton Medical Center and was then transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for injuries that were not life threatening.
The release stated that on July 28, FPD detectives arrested a 16-year-old Franklin resident in relation to the shooting.
