Summer readers engineer lighthouses

The Blackwater Regional Library’s Summer Reading Program is underway, and participants at the Windsor branch enjoyed a presentation from The Mariners’ Museum on Tuesday, July 11, titled “Engineering a Lighthouse.”
A library news release noted that participants enjoyed engineering their very own lighthouse models.
“Our next summer reading event will have everyone amazed by illusion with Kingry the Magician at Windsor High School on Tuesday, July 18, at 11 a.m.,” BRL Senior Library Assistant Melody L. Ranck said.
The high school is located at 24 Church St.
Following are other upcoming events that are part of BRL’s Summer Reading Program:
- The Singing Cowgirl: “Sing All Together Now” — Tuesday, July 25, at 11 a.m. at Windsor High School.
- Ukuleles: Play All Together Now — Tuesday, July 25, at 2 p.m. at the Windsor Library, which is located at 18 Duke St. Learn to play the ukulele the fun way. Registration is required. For more information, call 757-242-3046.
• Summer Reading Awards Day — Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m. Stop by the library to get a free book and enjoy a snow cone.
