Southampton County’s Litter Control Council organized and conducted a cleanup on June 3 that resulted in the collection of approximately 40 bags of trash on Route 35 and Main Street in Courtland from Southampton Middle School to the county courthouse.
In a county news release, the Southampton County LCC and county administration recognized and thanked the various individuals and organizations that participated in this event, including members of the county’s Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, sheriff’s office, county Sheriff Josh A. Wyche Sr. and other interested citizens.
If an individual or a civic group is interested in conducting a litter cleanup, they should contact the Southampton County Administration Office at 757-653-3015.
“We have safety vests, trash bags, gloves and litter grabbers that you can utilize for cleanups,” county officials said.
