COURTLAND – Alan Herbert Marcotte, 79, passed away Aug. 9, 2023, with his family by his side. Born in White Hall, New York, he was a son of the late John Herbert Marcotte and Hulita Hathaway Marcotte. He was also predeceased by a brother, Larry Marcotte.

Alan was a retired Senior Chief with over 20 years of service with the U.S. Navy and worked for B&M Marine and Ship Repair for over 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Fleet Reserve and James L. Camp Jr. YMCA and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Theresa May “Terri” Marcotte; a daughter, Cheri M. Abraham (John) of Virginia Beach; two sons, Alan John Marcotte of Beaumont, Virginia and Christopher Alan Marcotte (Margaret) of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Betty M. Davis, Joanne Perry (Rick), Cathy Belisle (Art) and Patti Racette (Jeff); a granddaughter, Jensen Abraham; two grandsons, Teddy and Ethan Marcotte; a host of nieces and nephews; and a big extended family.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023 in St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Tony Yllana officiating. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, The American Cancer Society or The Reinhart Guest House, 1100 Libbie Avenue, Richmond, VA 23226.

The family would like to give special thanks to Legacy Hospice for taking care of him.
