Route 633 (St. Lukes Road) over Horse Pen Swamp, near Berlin in Southampton County, reopened ahead of schedule Aug. 28 following the completion of the bridge superstructure replacement work by Virginia Department of Transportation crews.
A VDOT news release noted that repairs to the bridge included installing a new timber bridge deck and steel beams. A full road closure of Route 633 (St. Luke’s Road) from Route 710 (Roundhill Road) to Route 626 (Berlin Dorey Road) that had been in place since Aug. 21 has been lifted.
