CAPRON – Nancy Turner Ricks, 68, passed away Nov. 2, 2023, in Courtland Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey Marks Turner and Lucy Neal Turner. She was also predeceas

ed a granddaughter, Taylor Grace Bowden.

Nancy was a 1973 graduate of Tidewater Academy. She was a secretary for Southampton County Public Schools in the Special Education Department and a former secretary for the Virginia Peanut Growers Association for 11 years. Nancy was a member of Capron United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Amy R. Bowden (Jonathan) of Boykins; a son James Ricks (Abby) of Boykins; a sister, Tracy T. Rasnake (Ronald) of Boykins; a brother William M. “Bill” Turner (Lisa) of Capron; four grandchildren, Jordan Makenna Bowden, Ashlyn Riley Bowden, Caleb Ryan Seagraves (Shannon) and Jason Patrick Seagraves; and a great-grandchild, Cade Ryan Seagraves.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5 in Capron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Curtis Faison and the Rev. Michael Baugham officiating. There will be a reception at the Capron Ruritan Building following the service. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Capron Fire Department or your favorite charity.
