Southampton County Treasurer Cynthia Jarratt Edwards was elected Tuesday night, Nov. 7, by voters to serve another four-year term in her current role.

Edwards received 58.55% of the vote, translating to 3,995 votes versus the 2,828 received by her opponent, Tiffany W. Kindred, according to unofficial results from the Virginia Department of Elections that did not include provisional or post-election votes as of Wednesday morning, Nov. 8.

Of the precincts reporting, Edwards won all except for Boykins-Branchville, where Kindred enjoyed a 251-to-236 vote advantage.

This will be Edwards’ second term as county treasurer after having been elected to her inaugural term in 2019.
