Literacy, treats packaged to fun effect

The Meherrin Elementary School staff recently combined the fun of Halloween with literacy, hosting their annual Title 1 Reading Night and Trunk-R-Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
A school news release noted that students and their families were invited to put on their Halloween costumes and partake in the event. While in attendance, each family was provided with important information regarding the educational services provided through Title 1. The students also received candy from each grade level trunk station.
“Even the staff participated in costume,” school officials stated with excitement. “The school happily welcomed 168 students and guests throughout the evening and would like to thank the MES community for their dedicated participation.”
