Each year during the month of November, Nottoway Elementary School celebrates “Thankful Thursdays.” Students and staff have opportunities to share their appreciation for their fellow classmates and coworkers through notes and even small gifts.
This year, however, Nottoway had the privilege of kicking off “Thankful Thursdays” with a very special group of individuals: members of the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office.
A school news release noted that each guest member of law enforcement was treated to a Dunkin’ Donuts bag and juice before visiting the classrooms to receive cards and hugs of thanks from the student body.
“The school would like to thank Sheriff Josh Wyche, the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office and our neighboring law enforcement agencies for keeping our community safe, as well as forming positive relationships with our students,” NES officials said. “This valued partnership helps build a better tomorrow.”
