International Paper announced Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 9, that Kyle Duffy had been named mill manager of International Paper’s Franklin Mill.
Duffy is replacing John Ashley, who retired in December.
The IP news release noted that in his new position, Duffy will assume overall responsibility for safety, people engagement, commercial and operational excellence and community stewardship at the Franklin Mill.
Most recently, Duffy was the operations manager for the company’s Pensacola, Florida, mill.
He began his career at International Paper as an environmental, health and safety intern at the Texarkana, Texas, mill and later joined the company full time in the Environmental Center of Excellence. Since that time, he has held a variety of environmental, manufacturing excellence and operations roles of increasing responsibility with the company at mills in Riverdale, Alabama; Franklin, Virginia; Red River, Louisiana, and Pensacola.
Duffy and his family will relocate to the Franklin area soon.
“I had the privilege of working with the Franklin Mill team from 2015-18, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to return,” Duffy said. “Being able to lead the team in Franklin is a wonderful opportunity, and I’m humbled to be a part of the continued success of the mill. My family and I are house-hunting in Franklin — we can’t wait to get reacquainted with everyone and look forward to being fully immersed in the community.”
The release concluded by stating that International Paper is a global producer of planet-friendly packaging, pulp and other fiber-based products and is one of North America’s largest recyclers. Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, IP employs approximately 39,000 colleagues globally and serves customers worldwide, with manufacturing operations in North America, Latin America, North Africa and Europe. Net sales for 2022 were $21.2 billion.
