Capron resident arrested for child porn possession

Southampton County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant Jan. 25 in Capron and arrested a town resident the next day on possession of child pornography.
A Friday, Feb. 2, SCSO news release stated that the sheriff’s office received a cyber tip from the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in reference to the possession of child pornography.
On Jan. 25, sheriff’s office detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 19000 block of Southampton Parkway, the release noted.
SCSO officials stated that as a result of the investigation, Cody Drake, 30, of Capron, was arrested on Jan. 26 and charged with one count of violation of the Code of Virginia 18.2-374.1:1(A), possession of child pornography, and two counts of violation of the Code of Virginia 18.2-374.1:1(B), possession of child pornography second or subsequent offense.
Drake was released on a secured bond on Tuesday, Jan. 30, the release stated, adding that his next court appearance is scheduled for March 26 at 1 p.m. in Southampton County General District Court.
