COURTLAND – Joseph Kindred Magette Jr., 70, passed away Feb. 6, 2024 in St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Richmond, he was a son of the late Joseph K. Magette Sr. and Margaret Nurney Magette.

Joseph was a 1971 graduate of Tidewater Academy and the owner of J.K. Magette Auto Repairs in Courtland, where he retired from on July 31, 2009 after 38 years. He was a longtime member of Manry Hunt Club and also enjoyed his friends at Davis Ridley Hunt Club. Joseph was a member of Courtland Methodist Church.

He is survived by many cousins and friends and a special friend, Elizabeth Holliday. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12 in Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Baugham officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Courtland Methodist Church.
