FRANKLIN – Helen King Marlin, 80, passed away on Feb. 12, 2024 in her home. Born in Dillon, South Carolina and raised in Portsmouth and Virginia Beach, she was a daughter of the late Robert Edward King and Lucille Rogers King. She was also predeceased by her husband, Dale Edward Marlin and a sister, Sherry.
Helen was a 1962 graduate of Princess Anne High School and rec
eived an associated degree from Paul D. Camp Community College. She was a secretary for the Great Dismal Swamp Nation Wildlife Refuge with the Department of Interior in Suffolk for 22 years and a realtor. Helen was a member of Rock Church of Franklin.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Dawn Marlin Worrell and Dianna Marlin Whitehurst (Buddy); a son, Dale Edward Marlin II (Sherre); a sister, Kay King of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Randy Worrell, Lindsey Worrell, Colby Johnson (Chris), Hunter Eggleston and Mackenzie Marli; and great-grandchildren, Parker Speight, Layla Hoyt and Bodie Hoyt.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor David Dillon officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26 in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163.
