Isle of Wight County promoted Uwe Weindel to director of utilities effective Feb. 13.

Weindel previously served as county engineer since 2021 when he came to Isle of Wight with over 30 years of engineering and managerial experience in the public and private sectors.

Weindel holds masters and bachelors degrees in civil engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. He is a professional engineer licensed in Virginia and Pennsylvania and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Weindel succeeds Don Jennings, who left his employment with the county on Feb. 13 to take a position with the Hampton Roads Sanitation District.
