Fifth grade students from Capron Elementary School recently learned about the Civil War in their Virginia Studies class led by Ms. Pultz. After learning about the historical event, they created a project about something interesting they learned about the Civil War. The students had various options to choose from for their Civil War projects. Options ranged from biographies on historical figures to a diorama of a battlefield or plantation. Some chose to compare and contrast the north and the south while others created a timeline of events. The students presented their projects in front of their classmates and explained what they had learned in class. As a fun culminating activity, they were given the opportunity to sample cornbread and hard tack.
