Franklin man arrested in connection with Suffolk officer-involved shooting

Suffolk, Virginia — Suffolk Police released the names of two individuals charged in connection with the traffic stop that led to Thursday’s officer-involved shooting.
Police say a traffic stop led to a Suffolk Police officer discharging their weapon, striking the driver. The incident happened on Thursday, April 4, at approximately 9:39 p.m. on James St. in Suffolk.
During the stop, the vehicle fled towards one of the officers, prompting an officer to fire several shots, striking the driver. Police then pursued the vehicle to the 100 block of Brewer Avenue. The injured suspect received immediate medical attention from Suffolk Police before being treated by Suffolk Fire & Rescue at the scene and then transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Arias Nazareth Worrell, of Suffolk, was arrested and charged with eluding police, obstruction of justice, and three counts of possession of a machine gun for offensive/aggressive purposes.
Labryan Nasir Mann, of Franklin, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, eluding police, obstruction of justice, and three counts of possession of a machine gun for offensive/aggressive purposes.
Police are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of Jyshan Deonte Lee of Chesapeake. Police say Lee is facing charges of eluding police, obstruction of justice, and three counts of possession of a machine gun for offensive/aggressive purposes.
The driver of the vehicle remains hospitalized and will face charges upon release. SPD has not released the identity of the officer involved in the shooting but said the officer is currently on administrative leave while the incident is under investigation.
