ZUNI – Jean Paige Galtress, 79, passed away on April 17, 2024 in her home with her family by her side. Born and raised in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Conrad Norton Holt Sr. and Inez Lowe Holt.

Jean was a graduate of Southampton High School and was a full time wife and mother. She took care of children her entire life. Jean was a member of Corinth Friends Meeting.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, William Jasper “Bill” Galtress Sr.; four daughters, Billie Jean Cartwright, Ellen G. Hulker, Janet Paige Carr and Merle A. Galtress; a son, William J. “Billy” Galtress Jr.; a sister, Carolyn E. Tart; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 22 in Corinth Friends Meeting with Amanda Baker officiating.
