The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office received notification of the accident at 3:24 pm in the 18400 block of Sedley Rd in Sedley. Deputies determined that a Chevrolet SUV, occupied by one adult male, had crashed into the rear of a Southampton County Public School Bus transporting 11 students. The ages of the students are unknown at this time.

The students on board were secondary school students of Southampton County Public Schools. According to SHSO, four students were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, and school board personnel transported the bus driver to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet SUV was not injured in the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet SUV was issued four summonses and is set to appear in Southampton County General District Court on July 5, 2024.
