Camp season: Broncos take in two college football camps, more to come

Football camps have become a staple of the off-season for many high school athletes, including Franklin High School, which recently sent several players to the Paul Johnson Take Flight Prospect Camp at Chowan University and the Mack Brown Football Camp at the University of North Carolina.
Camps allow rising athletes to network with other athletes, perform various drills, and receive instruction from current players and coaches.
Broncos head football coach Lamont Hill said both camps provided an excellent opportunity to compete and gain exposure.
“I thought the guys that went did an excellent job of competing and continuing to be coachable,” Hill said. “There was high-level talent at both camps, along with great teaching. The kids enjoyed both camps and look forward to the other camps that we’ll be attending this offseason.”
Hill said these will not be the only camps players will attend this summer.
“We try to get a good mixture of camps in the area as well as those a few hours away,” Hill said. “New atmospheres and experiences for the young men is my biggest joy as they showcase their talents doing what they love.”
Camps like these are a source of exposure for rising athletes and coaches they may not otherwise receive during a rigorous football season. Hill said during the visit to UNC, they ran into the coaching staff at Hampton University while eating lunch and had an opportunity to talk with them for a bit.
