FRANKLIN- Brenda Batliner Pope, 71, transitioned to a place of peace on July 8, 2024, in her son’s home in Tallahassee, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Greenville and Mozelle Campbell Batliner. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Guy Lloyd Pope Jr.

Brenda was a beautiful soul who touched countless lives in remarkable ways. While our hearts ache, we choose to celebrate her legacy. She was a beacon of love, laughter and resilience. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her smile could light up even the darkest days. Brenda left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Left to cherish her memory are her four sons: Jonathan L. Pope (Julie) of Buffalo, New

Brenda wore many hats throughout her life, each representing a facet of her vibrant personality: Franklin Incubator: Brenda worked as a receptionist/administrator at the Franklin Incubator for many years. Her infectious laughter and encouragement brightened the workplace, reminding everyone to worry less and laugh more. Youth Christian Ministries: Alongside her husband, Guy, Brenda was deeply involved in youth Christian ministries. She was a talented puppeteer, delighting children with Christian-themed puppet shows at church and local events. Her ability to give life to six different puppet characters through voice and personality was truly remarkable. Theatrical Aspirations: Brenda’s lifelong dream was to be an actress. As a thespian in high school, she fearlessly took the stage, often stealing the show with her uproarious performances that left the audience in stitches.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 at Wright Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor David Dillon. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation hours from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, July 12 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Basset Rescue of Old Dominion in Brenda’s honor. You can contribute at BROOD-VA.org.
