FRANKLIN – Mr. James “Johnny” Dempsey, 70, of Bertie Colerain, North Carolina, born on Sept. 2, 1953 to the late Rubel and Zenora Perry Dempsey, passed on July 18, 2024 in Suffolk, VA. He was predeceased by the love of his life Ruby Skinner. To that union, they had one son, Travis Dempsey.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26, at 1 p.m. at the Greater Oak Grove Baptist Church, 35441 South Quay Road in Franklin. Vaughan-Temple Funeral in Franklin is in handling arrangements.
