A Franklin man was arrested Sunday, Aug. 25, after allegedly cutting another man across his face with a box cutter in Sedley the day prior. The other man was flown to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

A Southampton County Sheriff’s Office news release stated that on Saturday, Aug. 24, at around 8 p.m., SCSO deputies responded to the 16000 block of Johnsons Mill Road in Sedley in reference to an assault of an adult male. Once on scene, deputies determined that the male had been cut across his face with a box cutter during an argument.

The release noted that the alleged offender, Lloyd Michael Warren Sr., 65, of Franklin, had left the scene before deputies arrived.

“The male subject received treatment from EMS while on scene and was ultimately transported by helicopter to Chippenham Hospital in Richmond with non-life-threatening injuries,” SCSO Maj. Camden Cobb said.

Deputies secured a warrant for Warren for malicious wounding, a felony, in violation of the Code of Virginia, 18.2-51, the release stated.

“He was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. on Aug. 25, 2024, and was transported to the Southampton County Jail where he is being held without bail,” Cobb said.

The release concluded by noting that Warren’s first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 9 a.m. in Southampton General District Court.
