Closures, changes announced due to Labor Day

Localities in the area shared announcements about government closures and schedule changes due to the Labor Day holiday which falls on Monday, Sept. 2.
“I wanted the public to be reminded that (city offices) will not be open next Monday for Labor Day,” Interim Franklin City Manager Darlene Burcham said during the Franklin City Council’s Monday, Aug. 26, meeting.
A flier from the city noted that Monday’s trash route in Franklin will be picked up on Tuesday, Sept. 3, along with Tuesday’s route.
Tina Bradshaw, administrative assistant for Southampton County Administration, stated that county offices will be closed Sept. 2 in observance of Labor Day and that all solid waste collection sites in the county will be closed as scheduled.
She noted that citizens experiencing an emergency with water or sewer should contact the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office at 757-653-2100.
Windsor Town Manager William Saunders confirmed that Windsor town offices will be closed Monday due to the holiday.
