Blackwater Regional Library branches are now offering Roku streaming kits available for checkout.
These devices will connect with an HDMI-enabled television and give you access to thousands of streaming titles from your favorite streaming services.
“Our patrons commonly ask us for ways to access the newest and most popular shows on streaming services, and we are proud to find a way to connect them with the shows and movies that they most want to watch,” said Elizabeth Qualls, the library’s Collection Development Manager, who spearheaded this project.
Each Roku will be loaded with at least one premium streaming service, as well as lots of free streaming services offered through Roku. To help bridge the broadband divide, some Roku kits will come with MiFi Hotspots, while others will not. The library is encouraging patrons to request one with a hotspot only if they do not have home internet access.
Available preloaded streaming services include:
- Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+
- Apple TV and Acorn TV
- Max (HBO) and Peacock
- Prime, with Paramount+ and Hallmark Movies Now channels (Channels located within Prime app)
- Netflix
All the Roku kits will also come preloaded with several free streaming services to supplement the premium streaming offerings. Patrons may request the specific Roku kit you need through the library catalog. More information can be found at www.blackwaterlib.org/roku
Ben Neal, library director, said, “Blackwater Regional Library is thrilled and thankful to be able to offer this creative solution to meet the entertainment needs of our community.”
