SUFFOLK – Ronald Hugh Whitehead, 82, passed away Sept. 26, 2024 in Courtland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born on April 4, 1942, he was a son of the late Hugh Colgate Whitehead and Ruth Ashe Whitehead.

Ron was a graduate of Kempsville High School, a former Virginia National Guardsman and a retired electrician from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Khedive Shriners and Kempsville Masonic Lodge No. 141. He loved his little nine acre farm, his John Deere and Kubota tractors, cutting grass, gardening, raising cattle, cart racing and being Papa to his two grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years, Edith Whitehead; two daughters, Yvette Whitehead and Sabrina Widmeyer and two grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in Wright Funeral with the Rev. Tom Wallace officiating. Masonic Rites will be accorded at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
