The subject of policies governing the use of the gazebo at Wesley F. Garris Event Park and parts of school property in Windsor will be addressed at the Windsor Town Council’s Tuesday, Oct. 8, meeting.
In a memorandum to the Windsor mayor and Town Council found in the Oct. 8 meeting packet, Town Manager William Saunders notes that the town has a policy regarding the use of the gazebo in the Garris Event Park that was last updated in 2009.
“Recently, it has come to the attention of town staff that a revision of the policy is desirable,” he stated.
He provided a list of recommended changes that the council will consider Tuesday.
In a separate memo to the mayor and Town Council, Saunders states that Isle of Wight County Schools has recently tightened its policy regarding the use of its facilities by others.
Saunders’ memo addresses the possibility of the town entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with IWCS to potentially waive large fees that were requested of the town when it applied this year for use of the Windsor High School and Georgie Tyler Middle School parking lots for the town’s Christmas Parade.
The Oct. 8 Town Council meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held at Windsor Town Hall, which is located at 8 E. Windsor Blvd.
