Sedley resident dies amid Storys Station Road crash

A single-vehicle crash Saturday, Oct. 19, in Courtland on Storys Station Road involved the death of a Sedley resident.
A Tuesday, Oct. 22, Southampton County Sheriff’s Office news release stated that on Oct. 19 at about 11:18 a.m., the office received a call for a single-vehicle crash on Storys Station Road near Flaggy Run Road.
Deputies responded and observed that a black Ford pickup had left the roadway and struck a tree, the release stated.
SCSO officials said that the driver and only occupant, William Percy Clifford, 55, of Sedley, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials added that neither excessive speed nor alcohol were considered to be factors in the crash.
The release concluded by stating that Storys Station Road between Flaggy Run Road and Bethel Road was closed for approximately three hours due to the crash. The roadway reopened at 2:25 p.m. that same day.
