The Britches & Boots 4-H Horse Club hosted a Model Horse Clinic & Show on Saturday, Oct. 19, with a Halloween theme at Ballyshannon Equestrian Center.
A club news release stated that the clinic covered the model horse class descriptions and new model horse classes added this year, like Anything Goes, Models from Europe, Asia, Africa, Canada, Mexico and around the world. Club members were invited to wear their Halloween costumes and have a model horse in a matching costume if they chose to.
“We also had a craft to make your model horse into a Mummy Horse,” club officials stated.
Club members reviewed how to make custom model horses by repainting them or creating costumed model horses using doll clothes, craft materials or fabric to sew or hot-glue the pieces with an adult’s help.
The club members also had a fun surprise — Halloween dioramas, or any holiday can be created.
“You need a paper box lid and paint to paint the lid on all sides,” club officials stated. “Collect all your materials based on your theme and paint if needed. Put them all together and add some battery-operated lights for some Halloween fun.”
The Britches & Boots 4-H Horse Club will have an Open House for everyone in the community on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. at Ballyshannon Equestrian Center located at 30117 Camp Parkway in Courtland. The club will have a Model Horse Clinic & Show in the morning from 9-11 a.m. with the month’s theme — Horses in Books/Film. Club members will be available to answer questions about the club, and adults will be available to help people register online for the club.
In the afternoon portion of the Open House for everyone in the community from 1:30-3:30 p.m., the club will have horse clinics on safety around horses, grooming, tacking up a horse, and club members will have riding demonstrations.
“We hope to be able to give pony/horse rides as a fundraiser,” club officials stated. “We hope everyone will be able to come in the morning and/or afternoon sessions for lots of horse fun.”
