Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe of Southampton County Chief Walt “Red Hawk” Brown, supported by eight other tribal members, gave a Tribal History Presentation to the Defense Logistics Agency’s Troop Support Command in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 12. The tribal members included Vice Chief Ellis Wright, David Brown, Beverly El and Mary Francis Wilkerson, and the three members attending the presentation that live in Philadelphia included Wright’s daughters, Erica and Allison, and Brown’s cousin, Linda Brown Bagley. Chief Brown stated, “Allison accompanied all of us in regalia, with a Jingle Dress Dance, in the Grand Entry to the sound of a Drum CD prior to the presentation.” Brown thanked Cmdr. James Davis, chief of staff for Troop Support, for being the tribal group’s sponsor, and Brown praised the DLA’s hospitality, coupled with a warm welcome from Brig. Gen. Landis Maddox, DLA Troop Support commander.
