COURTLAND – Woodrow “Woody” Wison Ferguson Jr. ,71, passed away Sunday Dec. 1, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. Woody was a native of Franklin and was a son of the late Woodrow W. Ferguson Sr., and Caroline Ferguson Brock. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Terry Lynn Ferguson and Jo Ferguson Jarrett; his stepfather, Richard H. Brock; his father-in-law, James “Goat” Daughtrey and his brother-in-law, Bubba Campbell.

Woody was a dedicated husband, father and Pops. He was a longtime area volunteer firefighter and EMT with 50 years of service with the Hunterdale, Sedley and Franklin Fire Departments. Woody was a member of Community Hunt Club and an active member of The Harvest Christian Fellowship Church. Woody had held several jobs over the years unt

il his battle with cancer. His favorite by far was working for Burgess Trucking. Woody had a passion for driving his truck and the people he worked for.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 36 years, Jean Ferguson; his son, Matthew Edward Ferguson; one grandson, Bentley James Ferguson, whom he loved with every breath he had; two sisters, Veronica “Roni” Ferguson and Janet Bulls (Ronnie); two brothers, Wayne Ferguson and Kevin Ferguson (Karen); his mother-in-law, Betty Daughtrey; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Campbell and Grace Whitley and nieces and nephews. All that knew Woody knew of his passion for his fur babies, Buckshot, Panther, Dusty and his special Lil Girl “Pretty Girl”.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4 with firefighter’s honors at 1 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in the funeral home from 6 – 8 p.m, and suggests that memorial donations be made to your local fire department or The Harvest Christian Fellowship.
