To the Editor:

As “another” Mrs. Simmons who is a former graduate of Southampton High School and knows Mrs. Atkinson, I commend her for upholding exemplary standards in dress code and doing a great job as principal of Southampton High School (“Some miss graduation due to dress code,” June 22).

This is a once-in-a-lifetime, always-remembered day. I applaud her for maintaining high standards and wish there were more of the same type leaders in society, government, and churches who are not willing to compromise the laws, the rules and the word.

We find ourselves in the sad state we are in, in this country today, because of compromise.

What a powerful — but dangerous word.

Way to go and keep up the good work! Mrs. Atkinson, you get an A+++!
