Franklin – Jo’an Munford Noles, 64, passed away July 10, 2011at her residence in Hertford, NC. She was born in Franklin, and was predeceased by her mother, Eunice Barham Munford Copeland, her adopted parents, George and Stella Munford Brock; Mary Elizabeth Munford; and a granddaughter, Staci Jo Morgan. Jo’an was a retired unit manager for the NC State Department of Corrections. She was a member of the Black Creek Baptist Church and attended the Evangelical Methodist Church of Elizabeth City, NC.

Survivors include a daughter, Amy Michelle Morgan and husband, Eddie, of Spring Hope, NC; her father, Crawford Munford, Jr. of Franklin; one grandson, Adam C. Morgan and wife, Carrie, of Asheville, NC; three great-grandchildren, Gaige, Brooklynn and Karaghan; one brother, Crawford Munford, III and wife, Ruth of Elizabethtown, NC; and a special first cousin, Paige Gay, who lived with Jo’an for the past fifteen years and was her caregiver during her illness.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Max Edwards and the Rev. Greg Kitts officiating. Interment will follow at Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
