SA wins VCC volleyball tournament

Southampton Academy, after an undefeated regular season, won the Virginia Commonwealth Conference tournament Saturday with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-19 victory over Fuqua School in the championship game.
The Lady Raiders, 21-0 and ranked third statewide in Virginia Independent Schools Division III, open the state playoffs by hosting sixth-ranked Holy Cross School of Lynchburg at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Courtland.
Lindsay Raulston led SA to victory against Fuqua with 11 kills, 11 assists and 3 aces. Forrest Best had 8 kills and 2 blocks.
Raulston was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, while Best and Monica Fretts were named to the All-Tournament team.
