AHOSKIE, N.C.-Hunter Person Raiford, 68, of Ahoskie, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C., from complications related to a stroke.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, at First Baptist Church of Ahoskie. Visitation will follow the service at the church.

Mr. Raiford was born in Franklin and grew up on the family farm in Ivor. He was a 1962 graduate of Southampton High School in 1962. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in 1999 after 29 years of service.
