Two men were shot early Tuesday morning in separate attacks, according to city police.
Norman Johnson, 67, of the 33000 block of Monroe Road in Southampton County, drove himself to Southampton Memorial Hospital at 1:28 a.m. after being shot in the abdomen, police said.
“Johnson alleges to have been shot while in the 600 Block of South Street by an unknown assailant while standing outside his vehicle,” a press release said.
Ten minutes later, at 1:38 a.m. police were called to the 400 block of Washington Street, where they found 24-year-old Timothy Warren of Franklin on the ground and bleeding profusely from several gunshot wounds. Police called his injuries “life-threatening.”
Both Warren and Johnson were transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Police do not believe that the two shootings are connected.
