WINDSOR—Lee and Amy Hooker will be better prepared for hosting their second Truck and Tractor Pull on Saturday, June 26, at The Fairgrounds at Heritage Park.

“We will have a food vendor with three lines and about 15 on staff, nine people taking tickets and 20 (portable toilets),” said Amy Hooker, secretary-treasurer for Hooker Up Motorsports.

In April, 67 competitors and an unexpected 3,000 people turned out for Hooker Up Motorsports’ debut Truck and Tractor Pull.

“We were kind of shocked. We were expecting 1,500, maybe 2,000,” she said. “We weren’t prepared for that many.”

There weren’t enough people to take tickets and a vendor ran out of food three times.

“People love it and I can’t explain it,” Hooker said about the event. “Women love it just as much as men. It’s the excitement.”

Gates open at 4 p.m. for Saturday’s event with the show getting under way by 6. Admission is $12 for adults, kids 10 and under are free. Bleacher seating is available and lawn chairs are permissible.

The evening will feature 12 classes including 6,400-pound Super Street Pickups, 6,200-pound National Modified Trucks, 8,050-pound Street Diesel Pickups, 7,000-pound Street Gas Pickups, 2 ½-ton Monster Truck Class, Farm Field Stock, 6,700-pound Hot Stock Tractors, 12,000-pound Hot Farm Tractors, Super Stock Semi-Trucks, Street Semi-Trucks and 8,050-pound Pro-Diesel Pickups.

Hooker doesn’t know how many competitors to expect for Saturday, but believes the numbers could be about the same as in April. Drivers are expected from as far as West Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.

“It’s a very family-oriented atmosphere, and we allow no alcohol,” Hooker said. “We have children ourselves and want to show them you can have a good time without alcohol.”
