MURFREESBORO, N.C.—Mary Lizzie Lawrence, died Aug. 27, 2008, at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie, N.C.

Survivors include two daughters, Elloweese Hinton of Richmond and Barbara Lawrence of Portsmouth; three sisters, Audrey Cowan of Como, N.C., Werenith Moore of Baltimore, Md. and Naomi Stephenson of Portsmouth; two brothers, Henry Stephenson of Portsmouth and Fennell Stephenson of New York; and five grandchildren.

A funeral was conducted Tuesday at First Baptist Church Severn by the Rev. Elijah Barnes.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, was in charge of arrangements.
