Boykins- Bert M. Beatty, 78, widow of Milton “Corky” Beatty, died July 31, 2011 at her home. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late John and Rose Malik Roncinske and was retired from hotel management. She was a member of Boykins Baptist Church, a sponsor of the Little League football cheerleaders, former coach for the Southampton High School drill team and a former member of the Boykins Rescue Squad.

Survivors include a daughter, Tammy (Marty) Britt of Franklin; a son, Mickey (Deedra) Beatty of Waco, TX; five grandchildren, Nicole and Mason Britt, Wendy Storey, Jay Beatty, Jr., Melissa Watson and eight great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a son, Jay Beatty.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Boykins Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmie Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins, and suggests memorials be made to the Boykins Fire Department, Boykins Baptist Missionary Youth Fund or the Boykins Rainbows. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
