CONWAY, N.C.—Melissa Kate Flythe and Michael Robert Decker, both of Conway, N.C., exchanged wedding vows during a 5:30 p.m. ceremony on June 28 at Zion United Methodist Church in Conway.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Earl Flythe Jr. of Conway.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Earl Flythe Sr. of Conway and the late Mr. and Mrs. Windell Calston Long of Seaboard.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Albert Decker of Capron.

He is the grandson of Emma Marie Decker of Cottage Grove, Minn., and the late Halsey Ford Decker and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ollie Grizzard of Capron.

The Rev. Sidney Collins and Shane McCumbee officiated the double-ring ceremony.

A program of wedding music was provided by Sandra Woodard, organist, Betty Anne Long, pianist and aunt of the bride, Chris Jernigan, trumpeter, Kathryn and Margaret Long, vocalists and cousins of the bride, and Floyd Jenkins, sound system and friend of the couple.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory gown of satin enhanced with an off-the-shoulder neckline with one inch capped sleeves.

The fitted bodice was accented with pearls, sea beads and sequins. The Basque waistline led to a chapel length train accented with silver embroidery, pearls, sea beads, and sequins. Complementing her gown, the bride chose an elbow-length veil with a rolled edge.

The bride chose a hand-tied bouquet of light blue hydrangeas and champagne roses with her paternal great-grandmother’s handkerchief and her maternal grandmother’s brooch.

Her attendants also carried a bouquet of cream hydrangeas and champagne roses.

Wendy Odom, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Ashlee Flythe, Lisa Flythe and Leigh Anne Long, cousins of the bride, Courtney Hornback, sister of the groom, Kristin Britt, Casey Liverman, Kristin Vaughan and Ashley Webb, all friends of the bride.

Serving as junior bridesmaid was Olivia Wheeler, friend of the bride. Flower girl was Mary-Katherine Cobb, friend of the bride.

Donald Decker served as his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Chris Decker, brother of the groom, Jeremy Flythe, brother of the bride, Hunter Hornback, brother-in-law of the groom, Drew Armstrong, Matt Boykin, Brian Hobbs, Bland Pope and Adam Webb, all friends of the groom.

Jackson Hornback, nephew of the groom, served as ring bearer.

Katie Cobb, friend and co-worker of the bride, and Anita Long, aunt of the bride, served as mistresses of ceremonies.

Guest register attendant was Eva Williams, friend of the bride. The program attendant was Lou Anne Flythe, cousin of the bride.

The bride is a 2000 graduate of Northeast Academy and a 2004 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science and Recreation and Leisure Studies.

She is employed with Southampton Memorial Hospital/ East Pavilion in Franklin as resident activities coordinator.

The groom is a 1999 graduate of Southampton County High School and a 2003 graduate of Barton College with a degree in Business Administration.

He is employed as an agent with North Carolina Farm Bureau in Jackson, N.C.

After a honeymoon trip to Nags Head, the couple will reside in Conway.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, immediately followed the ceremony at Chockoyotte Country Club in Weldon, N.C.

Scott Odom, friend of the family, decorated the country club.

Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Jenkins, friends of the couple, and Jean Stagg, great-aunt of the bride. Music was provided by The Sand Band of Pinehurst, N.C. and Jay Jenkins, DJ, of Woodland, N.C.

An after rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at the Jackson Lions Club.

On April 12, a Gift Card Dance was held at Valley Pine Country Club in Lasker given by Joe and Ellen Barrett, Kristin Britt, Adam and Misty Buren, Jeffrey and Elizabeth Coggins, Bill and Kay Cooley, Phil and Betsy Davis, Herman and Deborah Duncan, &uot;Chick&uot; and Ashlee Flythe, Jeremy Flythe, William and Sandra Flythe, Billy and Beth Futrell, Ryan and Alison Howell, Danny and Christy Hudson, Jim and Casey Liverman, &uot;Rookie&uot; and Christy Long, Derreck and Rebecca Long, Jason Long, Jesse and Anita Long, Leigh Anne Long, Phil and Mary Matthews, Chris and Sherri Mayle, Scott and Wendy Odom, David Parks, Jerry and Brenda

On April 24 the residents and Activities Department of East Pavilion held a surprise bridal shower.

A lawn and garden party was held on April 25 at the home of Esther and Vernie Francis in Courtland.

The party was given by Moe and Deborah Britt, Esther and Vernie Francis, and Ashley and Adam Webb.

On April 27, a Pampered Chef Shower was held at Zion United Methodist Church in Conway given by Shannon Byers, Lisa Flythe, Casey Liverman, Leigh Anne Long, Wendy Odom and Sandra Kay Pope.

On May 3, a stock the bar party was held at the home of Lee and Gail Wade in Conway, given by Ken and Terry Brown, Wayne and Shelly Hatcher, Lance and Dawn Jarratt, Floyd and Wanda Jenkins, Jonathon and Mary Jenkins, Danny and Kim Lafferty, Scott and Megan Lafferty, Jimmy and April Liverman, and Lee and Gail Wade.

A Miscellaneous Shower was held on May 4 at Zion United Methodist Church given by Sandra Boone, Marion Bridgers, Jean Davis, Doris Flythe, Kay Flythe, Sandra Flythe, Shirley Flythe, Cathy Hatcher, Dawn Jarratt, Linda Mulder, Susan Pope, Jean Stagg, Susan Taylor, Daphne Wade, Nell Walker, Essie Woods, and Ann Vann.

On May 17, a cocktail party was held at the home of Greg and Kitty Lou Pope in Capron, given by John and Olivia Claud, Glenn and Beth Francis, Larry and Debbie Felts, Bob and Patsy Marks, Eddie and Nancy Partridge, Greg and Kitty Lou Pope, and Dana and Georgia Webb.

A bridal shower was held on June 8 at the home of the groom’s parents given by Courtney Hornback.

A bachelorette weekend was held in Nags Head, N.C., and a bachelor weekend was held in Raleigh, N.C., on June 13, 14, and 15 all given by the couples’ friends.

A bridesmaids luncheon was held on June 2 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Seaboard, N.C. honoring Melissa and her bridesmaids, hosted by Katie Cobb and Betty Anne Long.
