ZUNI—Elder Frank L. Johnson Jr., died June 22, 2008, at Sentara Obici Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1923, to Frank Johnson and Josephine Parker Johnson in Newark, N.J.

Elder Johnson was the former pastor of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Zuni,

for more than 20 years.

Elder Johnson (Sonny Boy) was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah P. Johnson; son, Frank Wayne Johnson; daughters, Glenda J. Allen and Naomi J. Eley.

Survivors include his children, Lorraine Sarah Johnson of the home in Zuni, Willie C. Johnson of Zuni, Russell Johnson of Norfolk, Dwayne M. Johnson (Karin) of Ahoskie, N.C., Raymond W. Johnson (Diana) of Capron and Nathan G. Johnson of Suffolk; brother, William W. Johnson of Zuni; sister, Margie G. Copeland of Zuni; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Chapel Grove UCC in Windsor,.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Shivers Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
