Ronald D. Spivey

FRANKLIN—Ronald Duaine “Ron” Spivey, 53, a self-made man who loved God, country and family, died June 21, 2008.

He was born in Alamogordo, N.M., a son of the late Raylene Hertzler and James Maxton Spivey and was predeceased by his twin brother, Donald Wayne Spivey.

Mr. Spivey was a Petty Officer First Class in the U. S. Navy Reserve, having served in the Navy for seven years and 17 years in the reserves.

He always found the positive in everyone and was the Postmaster in the Newsoms Post Office.

He was a member of the Newsoms Ruritan Club, The Gideons International and a volunteer with the American Red Cross.

He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church where he taught the fourth and fifth grade Sunday School Class and served on the audio-visual committee.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Sharon Holloman Spivey; two sons, Nicholas Andrew Spivey and Philip Duaine Spivey, both of Franklin; two brothers, Michael Spivey of Florida and Christopher Hertzler of Oklahoma; and an uncle, Frank Hertzler of California.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Franklin Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress and the Rev. Sharon James officiating.

Interment, with military honors, will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms.
