LONG ISLAND, N.Y.—Paul Edward Hill Sr., formerly of Southampton County, died June 14, 2008,

Mr. Hill was born in Southampton County to the late Clinton Smith and Florence E. Hill Smith. At an early age,

he joined Millneck Baptist Church, Capron.

Survivors include his two children, Paul Hill Jr. (Rose) of Danville, Paxton E. Hill of Emporia; one devoted daughter and caregiver, Paulette E. Hill of

Long Island; five sisters, Fannie B. Dillard of Courtland,

Mary F. Dillard, Florence V. Smith of Capron, Josephine S. Carter (Joseph) of Jarratt and Rose A. Smith (Elder Stanley) of Skippers; seven brothers, Louis M. Dillard, Kenneth L. Smith of

Capron, Clinton A. Smith (Selina) of Franklin, Emmett G. Smith of Boykins, Larry D. Smith, Robert A. Smith of Drewryville and Raymond T. Smith of Courtland; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Charles E. Hopson, officiating.

Burial will follow in Mars Hill Church Cemetery, Capron.
