NORFOLK—The medical condition of a Franklin man injured in a single-vehicle accident last weekend has been upgraded to “fair,” according to hospital officials.
Gloria Seitz, a spokesperson for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, said 18-year-old Hudson Gavin has continued to improve since he was admitted to that hospital after being airlifted there by Nightingale Air Ambulance early Sunday morning.
Gavin, who had graduated from Southampton High School the previous morning, was thrown from his vehicle when he ran off the road and into a utility pole at about 2:45 a.m. on Flaggy Run Road near Main Street in Courtland.
He has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a spokesperson for the Virginia State Police.
